Wat ga je doen? 

Je werkt vanuit het NLR Drone Centre in Marknesse nauw samen met je collega’s in Amsterdam en Marknesse. In deze functie kom je in aanraking met diverse vliegtuigtechniek gerelateerde vakgebieden, waarbij met name kennis en ervaring met vliegtuig ontwerp, vliegmechanica, avionica, certificatie, en vliegoperaties van belang zijn. Drones en helikopters zijn de duizendpoten onder de vliegende platformen. Zowel civiel als militair neemt het aantal onbemande toepassingen razendsnel toe. Van jou wordt een sturende rol verwacht, waarbij je samen met het team, de uitdaging aangaat om drone toepassingen mogelijk te maken, rekening houdend met de strenger wordende eisen ten aanzien van veiligheid en milieu. Daarbij wordt je ingezet bij diverse projecten gericht op certificatie en regelgeving, en ook studies m.b.t. vliegprestaties, en systeemevaluaties. Ook het leiden van projecten en de inhoudelijk aansturen van de verschillende teams zijn onderdeel van je werkzaamheden. Opleiding vindt veelal on-the-job plaats, waarbij in het inwerkplan ruimte is voor persoonlijke- en vakinhoudelijke ontwikkeling.

Wat breng je mee

• Afgeronde academische master opleiding Lucht- en Ruimtevaarttechniek of vergelijkbaar
• Werkervaring (2-5 jaar) op vakinhoudelijk gebied van drone technologie
• Ervaring met het aansturen van een (project)team

De afdeling Vertical Flight and Aeroacoustics, AVVA, is een jonge, marktgerichte en groeiende afdeling die onder andere het Drone Flight Test Centre op het NLR in Marknesse opereert en beheert. We investeren continu in ons Drone Centre (http://dronecentre.nlr.nl/) en drone vloot om met State-Of-The-Art faciliteiten een bijdrage te leveren aan de strategische ambitie van het NLR bij  de ontwikkeling, implementatie en maatschappelijke acceptatie van onbemande en autonome luchtvaart. Door de veelheid en diversiteit van de projecten is dit hechte team op zoek naar een nieuwe collega.

What will you be doing?

From the NLR Drone Centre in Marknesse, you will work closely with your colleagues in Amsterdam and Marknesse. In this role, you will come across various technological aerospace disciplines, where knowledge and experience with aircraft design, flight mechanics, avionics, certification and flight operations are particularly important. Drones and helicopters are some of the most versatile flying platforms. The number of unmanned applications, both civil and military, is rapidly increasing. You are expected to have a guiding role, tackling the challenges of making drone applications possible along with the team, taking account of the ever-stricter demands imposed on safety and the environment. You will be outsourced to various projects focusing on certification and regulation, as well as studies of flight performance and system evaluations. Leading projects and managing the content of the various teams’ activities will also be part of your work. Training is mostly on the job, with scope for planning personal and professional development during the onboarding.

What do you bring with you?

• A completed master’s degree in aerospace engineering or similar
• Work experience (2-5 years) in drone technology
• Experience managing a team, e.g. a project team
• Talent for organisation and planning project activities
• Results-oriented and customer-oriented attitude
• An infectiously enthusiastic and inspiring method of communication
• An independent and entrepreneurial initiative-taker, with a sharp eye for market opportunities
• Excellent communication skills in both Dutch and English
